Self Care The Smooth Way

Self Care The Smooth Way
Curling up on the couch with a good book and a smoothie in your hands. Ducking out for a spa day full of much-deserved pampering. Doing a yoga session by the pool. Or sneaking a tiny piece of chocolate from your chocolate stash. What is your favourite way to self care?

With all the school runs, weekly grocery trips for the family, cooking food to put on the table and chasing after the little ones when they decide to run off and go exploring, we know that all mums sometimes forget to stop, take a breath and indulge in a little self care.

Some mums are so busy looking after their kids that they forget to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some mums are also working from home, while also looking after their children.

The mum life is indeed a busy life.

So it's important that while you are making sure that your kids are eating their fruit and vegetables, that you are doing so as well. Mums deserve to take some time for themselves and make sure they are getting plenty of nutrients in their daily diet.

Remember, you should make sure you have healthy fats, protein and good carbs in every meal, so that you are at your very best while looking after your family and on the go.

So what better way to prepare yourself for the day ahead than with a smoothie? We are calling on all hard working Mums out there to stop, take a breath and self care, because this smoothie is just for you.

Go on, you deserve it!

1/4 cup fresh whole raspberries (frozen are fine as well)
1 finely sliced kiwi fruit
1 scoop of your favourite protein powder
5 almonds (a small handful)
Half a banana sliced
Just a couple of leaves of kale
Your favourite milk

We are loving the amazing health benefits in this smoothie.

Raspberries - Not only are they delicious, but raspberries are actually very high in fibre and are one of the lowest sugar fruits. They are rich in vitamins (including Vitamin C), minerals and antioxidants. They are also thought to reduce stress, enhance eye health, boost immunity, and give you healthier skin.

Kiwi fruit - Rich in vitamin C, dietary fibre and antioxidants, kiwi fruits are also known for possibly helping with sleep, heart health, blood pressure, while also giving you glowing skin.

Almonds - Choosing almonds is a great way to keep lots of healthy fats, fibre, protein, magnesium and Vitamin E in your diet.

Banana - There is so much more to bananas than a large source of potassium and other nutrients. They can apparently also moderate blood sugar levels, support heart health, give you energy and are one of the best sources of Vitamin B6.

Kale - Kale is high in iron and Vitamin K. It's also one of the best ways to fill you up and keep you full of nutrients for the day.

Milk - High source of calcium and Vitamin A. You can choose your favourite milk for this smoothie, whether it be almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk or even full cream milk.
